The 2014 season came to a close at Slinger Speedway on September 7, 2014 Once again another close season of racing came down to 3 drivers having a chance to hoist the traveling Super Cup that only a few elite drivers have had the opportunity to hold and have their name etched into. 2/24/14: The American Super Cups Racing Series spent this past weekend at the Milwaukee World of Wheels Car Show. Drivers were showing cars, talking to fans and potential drivers about the series, sponsors, tracks and race cars. We also were able to hand out flyers of information, samples from our series and personal sponsors.
Speaking about partners of the series. ASCS is proud to announce that once again we will be promoting the Milwaukee Indyfest throughout the year. The ABS Supply Co. Inc. Wisconsin 250 racing will take place on August 16th and 17th. We handed out all the promotional flyers, stickers, lanyards and soft sided cooler’s to race fans that were planning on coming out to join us at the race. Indyfest is a great couple of days at the track that has something for everyone. Not only the racing from Indy cars, Indy Lights, Pro Mazda racing series but entertainment for the whole family. The Infield open is open including the Family Fun Zone, Music and Beer Garden, food and drink vendors, Fan Village, Driver Autograph Sessions and much more. Stop by the ASCS booth on the infield! For more information www.milwaukeeindyfest.com
Special thanks go out to Greg Davis, Rookie - Derek Doerr, Andy Forster and David Cerer for making the trip and having the cars on display all weekend. Also thanks for all the support of other drivers Brian Baldaga, Mike Fredricks, Ken Jones and Mick Ellis for helping in the booth. Also, our tech inspectors Ron Holtslander II and Ron Holtslander III were in attendance and no penalties were issued! Great support for the best super cup racing series!
It was nice to see everyone and look forward to seeing the snow melt and getting back in the garage and out on the track!
1/7/14: The American Super Cups Racing Series is proud to announce that Ron Holtslander II and Ron Holtslander III will continue as our series technical inspector and race officials. The ASCS has always prided itself on keeping the competition safe and competitive. Unlike many racing programs that have little to no technical inspection or enforcement of rules the father and son combination provides a non-bias point of view to issues pertaining to the rules and racing.
The ASCS motor sealing program, strict rules enforcement and safety inspections leads the way in keeping drivers safe, cars in solid racing shape and extremely competitive season points championships. While many other series have drivers getting injured, cars that miss races and noncompetitive cars going laps down the ASCS has led the way to the best Super Cup racing series in the country.
Here is a little background information and pictures of our technical inspectors. Ron II began racing in 1998 in the CORR series. He raced a 1-1600 off road buggy through 2001, was on ESPN's Thrills and Spills, raced at the Crandon, Beaver Dam, Joliette ILL, Luximburgh, Antigo and Bark River MI. CORR had produced several NASCAR drivers like Jimmie Johnson and Brendan Gaughan. Ron did his own welding and fabricating on his buggy. The car evolved over the course of the years with a shorter chassis and beefed up suspension. His pit crew was close friends and family. Crew Chief Willie Gabrich, raced for several years earlier in the SODA series; where Ron was part of his pit crew. Ron’s wife and Crew Chief’s wife were coordinators of race weekends schedules of events. Ron’s sponsors were Good Year (provided tires), Ryder (provided car transport), Fox Welding and Pope Scientific.
Ron III was a big part of the race team as well. He helped with washing the car after muddy races and was his Dads number 1 fan. The team mascot was the Tasmanian Devil so they were called Team Tazz Racing. Thanks to Warner Bros logo restrictions they were forced to add an extra Z.
With racing experience and their desire to assist the ASCS the future looks great. Stay tuned for more upcoming 2014 racing information.
