Race #4 Press Release – American Super Cups Racing SeriesJune 5, 2019
First time feature winners are the best! American Super Cups returned to Slinger Speedway for our fourth scheduled race of the 2019 season. This will be our busiest stretch of the season with four races over four weeks. Once again, the weather was excellent for the evening of racing. Not too hot or cold. To start the evening a few of our drivers ventured into the stands for a autograph session and pictures and then the racing begins.
Qualifying – Practice sessions went well for everyone and gave drivers a chance to dial in the racecars. Qualifying resulted in hot shoe Jessica Talley capturing her first fast time of the season at 14.965. Michael Rose landed his second place again and local driver Del Scheler received his first point in the top qualifier point category.
Heat race one – Mick Ellis, led the field to the green with Del on the outside. Mick and Del battled in the front the entire 8 laps with Mick in the low line and Del hanging tough in the outside lane. They finished the race just .113 seconds apart with Mick winning the first heat. The other drivers once again were able to turn faster laps but because of the battles back in the field they were unable to overtake the leaders. The remaining top 5 were Matt Rose, Logan Julien and Jessica.
Heat race two – Sean Eurick and Parker Lindemann were on the front row in this heat. This heat was all rookies. Carter Wiess made a jump to the lead from the second row early in the race. Carter was able to pull away from the rest of the field and cruise to a win. He was followed by Ryan Mader, First race of the year rookie Halley Hoffman, Sean Eurick and Kendall Tracy for the top five positions. Parker experienced a mechanical issue but was able to return for the feature race.
Feature Race – Young guns Del and Michael led the field to the green again. Del was able to grab the lead initially. The top six drivers battled for much of the 20-lap feature. Matt was able to overtake Del a few laps into the race the lead. Matt was able to hit the marks and pull away to a slight lead as the others battled tightly behind him. Eventually things settled and the top 6 drivers finished under a blanket coming to the checkered. Del, Jessica, Michael, Rookie Logan and Mick were the top six.
With these results 12 of 13 cars able to run in the 15 second bracket making for close competitive racing and a great show for the fans. Once again, great job by all the veteran and rookie drivers. Really looking forward to a continued competitive racing season with the best super cup racing in the country.
